Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 2 tsp salt
- ~1/2 (add a little extra) tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 1/4 cups boiled water
yields ~16 tortillas
Creating the Dough
- Mix dry ingredients
- Mix in oil well
- Add boiled water a little at a time until dough gathers itself up in the mixing bowl.
- Let dough rest in a closed plastic bag for atleast 30 minutes before cooking
Making the tortillas
- Get a pan ready (or use one of these)
- Get a plastic bag with a linen cloth lining it (it doesn't have to be perfect)
- Clean a countertop and get some flour ready as well as a roller.
- Roll out the dough, and if it is a pain to roll, add a little flour, but not too much or it will be hard.
- When rolling out the dough, try to keep a circle shape, or square shape if possible.
- The dough should be thin enough where you can partially the countertop through it.
- Stretch out the dough into a nicer/even shape with your hands a bit, and cook it on the pan.
- When cooking, flip the tortilla when it starts to bubble.
- Put your finished tortilla inside the other bag and fold the bags opening under it to create a nice heat seal.
- Repeat steps 4-6 until all tortillas needed are cooked.
Tip: Tortillas don't need to be cooked the same day, the dough can keep a few days outside the fridge
